Oswego Health in New York has implemented ScheduleAnywhere for its nursing department’s staff scheduling, Atlas Business Solutions Inc. announced.

Previously, the provider was using Excel to schedule nurses and located on a hard drive. Under the new system, schedules can be developed, managed and viewed remotely.

The messaging system also allowed managers to create a message and share it with employees, and offers a “coverage watch” feature.

“Prior to implementing the new software, the schedule was a shared document, so if someone had it open, the scheduler couldn’t make changes to it,” said Alissa Miceli, medical surgical services administrative assistant, who manages the schedules for over 100 staff members. “If an employee had questions about the schedule, they would have to either come to the hospital to view it or call and have someone check it for them. With ScheduleAnywhere, I can make changes at any time, and staff can view the most recent schedule from any location.”

The coverage watch allows her to see when more people are needed, she added.

“I have also found the ability to track certifications and skills helpful because I receive alerts when employees are about to lapse in a certification,” Miceli said.

Oswego Health’s facilities include The Manor at Seneca Hill, a skilled nursing facility with 120 licensed beds.
