A total of 84% of Americans over the age of 50 expect an immediate family member to move into a senior living community within the next 10 years, a new poll found.
Similarly, 24% over the age of 65 see themselves going that way, according to the Coalition to Protect Choice in Senior Living (CPCSL), a newly formed organization. Cost remains a significant concern among prospective assisted living residents and their family members – even trumping quality. Most respondents said it is more important to choose the best quality community that accommodates their budget rather than a high-quality community regardless of cost.
The poll also cited the following as the most important factors when choosing a community: the quality of personal care, the personal safety for the residents, cleanliness, the quality of the staff and the quality of the management.
