New nurses feel ill-prepared to implement quality improvement measures, research finds

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services on Tuesday released the first edition of a new quarterly newsletter that aims to help providers avoid Medicare billing and compliance errors.

The new provider resource, titled the “Medicare Quarterly Provider Compliance Newsletter,” outlines potential billing issues and walks providers through possible errors and their possible consequences. The first edition includes eight scenarios, including an inpatient hospital or skilled nursing facility’s failure to submit requested documentation.

Each installment of the newsletter will draw on a variety of sources to compile relevant billing issues facing providers at the time of publication. The first edition of the newsletter is available for download on the CMS website.
