Three in ten senior living operators report no COVID-19 cases among residents and staff, according to a new national survey. And most say that fewer than 2% of residents or staff have tested positive for the disease.
The Ziegler CFO Hotline survey was conducted from May 15 to 22 and covered mainly nonprofit providers. It found that 68.5% reported 2% or fewer residents with a positive COVID-19 diagnosis. Similarly, 70.5% indicated that 2% or fewer staff members had been diagnosed.
Notably, respondents claimed a higher proportion of cases among staff than residents. Mirroring national trends, providers in the Northeast were the most likely to have positive cases overall.
In response to questions about reopening, roughly four in 10 providers, especially those in the South, indicated that they were beginning to ease some restrictions or would be doing so within the week. However, the remaining 60% reported having no immediate plans to do so.
