The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services on Friday released the timeline for MDS 3.0. This comes one week after the agency published a timeline and then pulled it off the site.
The new timeline is nearly identical to the one that was removed from the site. This October, CMS will publish final MDS 3.0 data specifications as well as data elements, the timeline says. Also in October, it will publish the Long-Term Care Facility Resident Assessment Instrument User’s Manual. CMS said a computer glitch was to blame for the abrupt disappearance of the timeline.
Train-the-Trainer educational forums will take place next February and March, according to the released timeline. Training addenda will be offered in April and May, as well as June and August. CMS in March pushed off the start of MDS 3.0 by one year to October 2010.
