Going through the selection process for the American Health Care Association’s Quality Award program can be nerve-wracking. While winning Gold is a major coup, even the disappointment of falling short can teach valuable lessons.

On this Newsmakers podcast, R. Scott Anderson, RN, chief operating officer and chief nursing officer for South Davis Specialty Care, and McKnight’s Long Term Care News Staff Writer Joe Bush chat about the facility’s second Gold victory in eight years, what Anderson feels was the key to victory, and what he and his staff learned from not winning in previous attempts.

“You become that much better every single time you go through it,” Anderson says. “You’re able to change your process, change your routines, to be that much better each time you go through the process.”
