Washington — The first test of an experimental vaccine for the 2019 novel coronavirus has begun  in Seattle, WA.

Scientists at the Kaiser Permanente Washington Research Institute started the study of the potential vaccine in mid-March. Two doses of the vaccine will be given to 45 volunteers to see if the treatment is effective. If all goes well, a vaccine still wouldn’t likely be available for 12 to 18 months, according to health experts.

The in-state Life Care Center of Kirkland skilled nursing facility, was the first site of a coronavirus outbreak in the United States.
