» Extendicare announced the hiring of Michael Guerriere, M.D., as its new president and CEO in September. Prior to taking on the role Oct. 22, he served as board member of the 118-facility Markham, Ontario-based company, and chief medical officer of TELUS Health. He replaces Tim Lukenda, who announced in July he was stepping down.

» Ohio Living revealed in September that an unknown third party accessed employee email accounts over the summer, putting at risk the personal health information of people who attended or received treatment from its facilities. The Columbus, OH, not-for-profit organization employs more than 3,000 and serves more than 73,000 annually. The employee email account known to be affected was disabled and the password was changed.

» StoneGate Senior Living launched a new “central intake center” in September, to serve as a go-between for its skilled nursing facilities. The center will streamline and coordinate resident care between its two luxury SNFs, Accel at Longmont and Accel at Golden Ridge. StoneGate Senior Living has 44 facilities across Texas, Oklahoma and Colorado.
