David Pomeranz

RiverSpring Living has named David V. Pomeranz its next president and CEO as part of a planned transition.

Pomeranz, a 38-year veteran of the organization and long-time COO, will succeed Daniel Reingold the head of RiverSpring Living and its affiliates, including the Hebrew Home at Riverdale, RiverSpring Health Plans, RiverSpring Home Care, RiverWalk and the new RiverSpring Residences

Reingold, meanwhile, will become president & CEO of River’s Edge, New York City’s first life plan community. He also has been named senior advisor to the Board of Trustees of the RiverSpring Living entities and will be vice chairman of the Board of Trustees of RiverSpring Living Holding Corp.

Both changes are effective April 1.

“Dan and David bring a combined 73 years of executive leadership, and this succession plan will assure a seamless transition following a bold strategic planning process,” said Jeffrey S. Maurer, board chairman.

Pomeranz said creating greater awareness of RiverSpring services and the use of “game-changing technology” would be instrumental for future growth.

Reingold will head the organization’s latest project, bringing River’s Edge to fruition. During his 35-year tenure at RiverSpring Living, the organization grew from a $100 million nursing home serving 1,000 residents to a $1.28 billion comprehensive long-term care organization serving 18,000 older New Yorkers.

Under his leadership, RiverSpring created programs such as the Weinberg Center for Elder Justice, the nation’s first shelter for victims of elder abuse; Project HOPE, a New York City high school for disabled students; policies and procedures for sexual rights and intimacy for older adults; and multiple affordable housing developments for seniors. He is a nationally recognized leader in the field of aging.

Pomeranz is an industry leader in the application of emerging technologies for adult care, spearheading the Hauser Care Connect, a national model that is testing and implementing new technologies to address the needs of older adults. RiverSpring also said Pomeranz had been instrumental in building a dynamic relationship with the New York Presbyterian hospital system.
