LeadingAge Florida has hired Lisa Smith as director of nursing home public policy.

Smith comes to LeadingAge from the state’s Agency for Health Care Administration, where, for the last three years, she served as bureau chief of Medicaid program finance and its $34.4 billion budget.

Florida has the fifth most nursing homes of all U.S. states at 704.

“She is a proven leader with more than a decade of experience managing the Medicaid reimbursement system for long-term care,” said Steve Bahmer, President and CEO of LeadingAge Florida. “This knowledge will be critical as we look forward to the future of the long-term care payment system and how we best serve our members.”

Smith holds a bachelor’s degree from Florida State University.
