Ashley Winkle

Consulate Health Care has appointed Ashley Winkle its new chief operating officer.

Consulate is Florida’s largest skilled nursing provider, though its holdings are down from 77 in 2018 to less than 50.

A company statement published Monday said Winkle, who has held various roles in senior living settings, would be a key part of the company’s repositioning efforts and operational initiatives this year.

“Ashley’s expertise and strong healthcare business acumen, combined with her passion for people and quality, is well aligned with Consulate’s overall commitment to excellence across every pillar of our business.” said CEO Jeron Walker.

Winkle’s career has included roles touching on quality measures, recruitment and retention, regulatory compliance, and physician and provider partnerships. Consulate said she holds degrees from Walden University, including a master’s degree in healthcare administration, a master’s degree in human services, and a bachelor’s degree in educational studies.

Consulate Health Care offers short-term rehabilitation, transitional care, Alzheimer’s and dementia care.

It has, however, faced major shake ups in the last several years, including major regulatory and compliance challenges, downsizing and multiple leadership changes. Late last year, Omega Healthcare Investors shed 30 skilled nursing facilities operated by LaVie Care Centers, which had been part of the larger Consulate organization since a 2012 merger.
