“Trauma-Informed Care: What It Is and Why It’s Important” will be the theme of a special webinar being hosted by LeadingAge Iowa.

The session will explore how skilled nursing providers with proper preparation can better deal with individuals who have experienced pervasive adverse childhood experiences (ACES).

This topic is important because life trauma can lead to lifestyle practices that influence development of chronic illness — in employees as well as residents. Understanding past traumatic events in individuals’ lives can be key to effective care. Participants will learn about the Three E’s of Trauma: Events, Experiences, and Effects and how these shape residents’ responses to care and how approaches to caregiving should be formed.

Planners will want to reserve 12 noon – 1:30 p.m. ET (11 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. CT) on January 24, 2019, for this special presentation.
