Long-term care operators will be among the providers anxiously observing President Trump’s State of the Union address Tuesday.

Recent news reports have said that the administration is quietly exploring plans again to get Medicaid block grants into place. Long-term care providers believe such an attempt would be illegal but nonetheless will keep a nervous eye on the night’s address.

Block grants would shift more power to the individual states and effectively put spending caps in place, something operators have staunchly resisted.

By the same token, providers could get good news if the president mentions any intention of further easing regulatory pressures.

The State of The Union will be streamed online and broadcast on numerous channels starting at 9 p.m. ET Tuesday.
