Keynote speaker Anand Giridharadas is a former foreign correspondent and columnist for The New York Times for more than a decade.

The annual LeadingAge spring conference, the Leadership Summit, starts Monday and will again feature a variety of educational sessions on operations, technology, lobbying activities and strategy.

The Monday-Wednesday event also will unveil the first winner of the new Leadership Award, which will recognize the “unique leadership” of a top professional whose actions have made a significant difference within their organization.

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services and other key regulatory and/or expert groups are expected to have presenters attend. Providers across the long-term care spectrum, including skilled nursing, assisted living, dementia and memory care, independent living and home health, will have specific sessions addressing their interests.

The Leadership Summit will highlight two keynote speakers. Anand Giridharadas is a journalist and political analyst who “unswervingly raises his voice in support of preserving democracy, overcoming division and grappling with change. His Monday morning session, “Choosing Persuasion Over Polarization,” will discuss how to “stand bravely for what we believe in while staying open to other viewpoints,” organizers note. He is the author of the best-selling book, “The Persuaders.”

The Tuesday morning keynoter will be Jason Feifer, the editor-in-chief of Entrepreneur magazine, an advisor to startup businesses, and the author of “Build for Tomorrow: An Action Plan for Embracing Change, Adapting Fast, and Future-Proofing Your Career.” He has written and edited for a range of top-flight publications, focusing often on helping business leaders become more resilient and adaptable in a world of constant change. He will offer “tangible strategies for moving through periods of change by lessening your panic, adapting faster, defining a new normal, and moving forward without fear,” organizers say.

Attendees also will be encouraged to visit their respective lawmakers in Congress to press issues important to the profession.
