Women of Distinction

There are just two days left to nominate candidates for the 2023 McKnight’s Women of Distinction awards program under the standard deadline.

You’ll still have a chance to enter worthy skilled nursing, senior living and home care professionals after Thursday, Jan. 5, but prices will go up starting Friday.

General information about the unique awards program, now in its fifth year, as well as nomination material, can be found at mcknightswomenofdistinction.com.

The program recognizes leading women across three categories, spanning all career levels — Rising Star, Veteran VIP and Hall of Honor. There is also a Lifetime Achievement Award and affiliated Spirit Awards.

The program is a joint effort of McKnight’s Long-Term Care News, McKnight’s Senior Living and McKnight’s Home Care. Eligible for recognition are women working in almost any capacity in skilled nursing, assisted living, independent living, home care and related settings.

Individuals who serve the fields indirectly — for instance as association staff members, academicians or thought leaders — also are eligible for Women of Distinction recognition. Individuals working for vendor companies serving the industry are not eligible.

Nominators are asked to share any details the judging panel should consider, the more detailed the better.

Nominations for the Rising Star, Veteran VIP and Hall of Honor awards that are submitted by Jan. 5 will have a $79 entry fee. Nominations submitted between Friday, Jan. 6, and a Tuesday, Jan. 10, deadline will increase to $109.

Of special note, the McKnight’s Spirit Award will for the second year recognize inspiring caregiving and service-provision efforts. Eligibility is open to women who have demonstrated acts of bravery, courage, perseverance, dedication, determination or other noble gestures. The awardees also will be celebrated at the McKnight’s Women of Distinction gala awards banquet. Nominations for this award may be submitted at no charge.

All honorees will be celebrated at an in-person event in Chicago in May that also will recognize winners from previous years. Details about the event, which also will include optional educational sessions, will be announced in the coming weeks.

Stay tuned, and don’t miss the first nomination deadline!
