The Evangelical Lutheran Good Samaritan Society led the list of largest non-for-profit senior living operators in 2011, according to the annual Leading Age/Ziegler 100 report.
Following ELGSS, the top five operators were the National Senior Campuses, ACTS Retirement Life Communities, Presbyterian Homes and Services, and Covenant Retirement Communities.
Nursing homes have declined as part of the overall mix each year since 2000, while independent living units and assisted living units continue to grow. The report was released in September.
