Two is better than one. At least that’s what the American Health Care Association is telling providers when it comes to designating an infection preventionist at their facilities.

The organization is recommending that nursing facilities designate and train at least two infection preventionists under the Phase 3 mandates for the Requirements of Participation. Providers won’t risk being out of compliance if one of the preventionists aren’t there, the AHCA wrote Wednesday.

Enforcement of Phase 3 RoP measures regarding infection preventionist is expected to start Nov. 28. The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services and AHCA are among the groups that have developed courses aimed at helping providers comply with the regulation.
