The Advancing Excellence campaign is well known for helping long-term care providers improve on measureable quality goals, but the program goes beyond this to create less quantifiable changes, according to Executive Director Douglas Pace, LNHA.
Providers now can access online tools and resources to help them with the nine clinical and process goals that Advancing Excellence announced earlier this year, Pace said. He spoke on camera with McKnight’s at the recent LeadingAge annual conference in Dallas.
The goals, which include reducing pressure ulcers and using medications appropriately, are a means for long-term care operators to meet requirements under the government’s Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement Initiative. The campaign’s tools are known for being data-driven, using progress reports and graphs to track changes. However, when asked why nursing homes should participate in Advancing Excellence, Pace zeroed in on the culture change that can be achieved.
“Participating in Advancing Excellence helps nursing homes be better places to live, work and visit,” Pace said.
