Study: Health insurance to elude 25% of U.S. workers by 2013

Slightly more than 1 in every 4 U.S. workers will be without health insurance in eight years, according to a new study posted on the Web site of the journal Health Affairs. As health insurance becomes more costly, nearly 56 million non-elderly Americans will be uninsured by 2013, the report says. That’s 11 million more than in 2003.

Researchers from the University of California at San Diego used federal data to make projections. They forecast that median personal income would lag per capita health spending by 2.4% each year.
