The cheapest private rooms in long-term care are located in Louisiana and Missouri, a new analysis says.

Shreveport, LA, ranks as the least expensive city in the United States for long-term care services, followed by New Orleans; Kansas City, MO; and St. Louis, according to Long Term Care Partners, LLC, provider of the Federal Long Term Care Insurance Program and the MetLife Mature Market Institute. Rounding out the top 10 are Little Rock, AR; Birmingham, AL; Chicago; Charleston, SC; Salt Lake City, UT; and Billings, MT.

A private room in a nursing home costs $99 per day on average in Shreveport, while the national private pay average cost of a nursing home in the U.S. is $192 per day or $70,080 annually, says a report from the MetLife Mature Market Institute.
