Relias Learning has completed the acquisition of fellow professional education company RediLearning. The deal will allow 400 new senior care courses to be merged into the Relias library.
The acquisition was the latest chapter in long-term care online learning consolidation. Relias, a cornerstone of Germany’s Bertelsmann’s Education Group, had said earlier it planned aggressive growth and would be moving into international markets in early 2016. Relias bought the Hospice Education Network in 2014 and Care2Learn in 2013. The latter had bought Upstairs Solutions in 2012.
“The acquisition of RediLearning is another step towards our goal of being the premier provider of online training across the healthcare continuum of care,” said Jim Triandiflou, CEO of Relias Learning. “RediLearning’s success with large senior care providers, based on deep industry knowledge and outstanding customer experience, is a perfect complement to Relias. Together we can lift the level of care provided by our clients to new heights.”
In Relias’ 2015 State of Training report, respondents in senior care said at least half of training is driven by external factors, namely government regulations. Almost 75% are using blended learning, i.e. classroom and online training, on a regular basis. The greatest positive impact of training was in onboarding new staff and management and leadership competencies, according to the report.
While the purchase price was not disclosed, a Reuters news source said Bertelsmann was playing “a medium double-digit million U.S. dollar sum for RediLearning.” Bertelsmann was reported to have paid $540 million for Relias last year.
Florida-based RediLearning was founded in 2006.
