The group representing Pennsylvania long-term care providers is teaming up with a private charity as a way to help recognize its members’ caregivers for exceptional patient care.
The Ceca Foundation will join forces with the Pennsylvania Health Care Association on a pilot award program, the two announced Monday. Ceca, which is based in D.C., is providing the association with a “turn-key” awards offering, and it says it will underwrite much of the associated costs. To date, the foundation has already partnered with 25 other healthcare entities.
As part of the partnership, Ceca has announced the initial five pilot participants — Genesis Healthcare Gettysburg; Heritage Springs, in Lewisburg; Transitions Healthcare Gettysburg; Falling Spring Nursing and Rehab Center, in Chambersburg; and Shippensburg Health Care Center.
The program involves staff members at those facilities using smartphones and other devices to nominate coworkers for Ceca Awards, which also come with a cash bonus for the recipients. Nominees are then posted on web TVs in high-traffic areas of the facility.
“We are delighted to partner with Ceca to recognize and reward the wonderful work performed by caregivers in our member skilled nursing, personal care and assisted living facilities,” W. Russell McDaid, president and CEO of the PHCA, said in a release. “That Ceca Foundation defines all employees as ‘caregivers’ speaks to the teamwork and dedication that are hallmarks of association members.”
