More than 70% of consumers said overall cleanliness was a factor when choosing a long-term care facility, and many said they equated odor to a lack of cleanliness, according to a survey from Clorox Professional Products Company.

Urine odors and stains are among the biggest challenges for long-term care, especially on soft surfaces such as seating areas, mattresses and in areas such as bedrooms.

Half of consumers also said they were concerned that soft surfaces are not cleaned regularly at their loved one’s long-term care facility, and one in five said they worried about the risk of infection.
