The Prevent DropSafe Safety Pen, introduced in 2019, has been awarded McKesson’s New Product of the Year.
The pen is the first in the United States to use a thin, 31-gauge needle to enhance patients’ comfort. It has a patented needle viewing window to help aid in priming confirmation and the outer cover can be placed on the back-end for dual-end protection for caregivers.
The needle’s maker, HTL-STREFA, is a leading global manufacturer of proprietary capillary blood sampling and drug-delivery devices with core expertise in diabetes and safety sharps.
