Implementing the Evidence-Based Practice (EBP) Competencies in Healthcare

A new book on evidence-based practices is now available for hospitals and healthcare providers, looking to build EBP cultures and environments in their facilities.

Implementing the Evidence-Based Practice (EBP) Competencies in Healthcare” provides readers with insight to EBP skills for nurses, and offers ways to implement them in clinical practices. Formatted in a guidebook style, the information is divided into multiple sections to allow quick access to readers.

The book was co-authored by EBP leaders Bernadette Mazurek Melnyk, Ph.D., RN; Ellen Fineout-Overholt, Ph.D., RN, and Lynn Gallagher-Ford, Ph.D., RN. All three authors agree that EBP is fundamental to improving healthcare outcomes.

“Competence in the EBP process is essential for clinicians to achieve sustainable evidence-based change, which is what guarantees us best practices and therefore, best outcomes,” Fineout-Overholt said.
