MJHS, a not-for-profit health system in New York, announced that Isabella Geriatric Center, a 705-bed residential healthcare facility providing rehab and nursing care in Manhattan, has become an affiliated agency.
Under the terms of the agreement, Isabella will remain a separate corporation but share infrastructure, core business functions and clinical expertise with MJHS. The deal allows Isabella to have scale and stability and for MJHS to expand within upper Manhattan, executives said.
“In today’s healthcare environment, it has become essential for not-for-profit organizations to form strong relationships,” said Arthur Goshin, M.D., chairman of the MJHS Health System board of directors.
Alexander S. Balko, president and CEO of MJHS Health System, is now the president and CEO of Isabella. He replaced Mark Kator, who retired earlier this year. Loyola Princivil-Barnett will become the new senior vice president of operations and administrator of record, responsible for overseeing all Isabella activities. She is currently the administrator at Menorah Center for Rehabilitation and Nursing Care.
MJHS has more than 3,500 employees; Isabella has more than 1,850 employees.
