A sizeable provider of long-term, post-acute care services has selected MatrixCare as its new electronic health record platform vendor.

The National HealthCare Corp. — with 76 skilled nursing centers, representing more than 9,600 beds — will start by rolling out the new EHR to its skilled nursing facilities across the U.S. In addition, the Murfreesboro, TN, company also operates 36 homecare programs, along with 24 assisted living communities.

NHC says it decided to upgrade its technology platform to help it shift toward value-based care.

“We conducted a thorough review of available options and concluded that MatrixCare’s products and strategies align very well with our goals and objectives,” Steve Flatt, CEO of NHC, said. “Their willingness to share risk and reward based on patient-centered quality and success criteria creates a true partnership and leverages technology in new ways to better serve our patients and residents.”
