A new state-of-the-art community from Jewish Senior Services, featuring skilled nursing and short-term rehabilitation services, opened on August 4 in Bridgeport, CT.
The Harry and Jeanette Weinberg Campus will replace the provider’s original residential housing facility and will sit on the same site as what was formerly occupied by the Bridgeport Jewish Community Center. The new building, designed by international architecture firm Perkins Eastman, will offer also offer assisted living and memory care.
“The new Jewish Senior Services campus really represents the cutting edge in long-term and rehabilitation care,” says Richard Rosen AIA, LEED AP, Principal with Perkins Eastman. “It’s a wonderful challenge to design a large and programmatically-complex building such as this, and always remain mindful that we are designing someone’s home, where family and friends can feel just as comfortable.”
The four-story building includes 280 private rooms for skilled care residences for a total of more than 370,000 square feet. Each will be part of a 14-room group that share a kitchen, dining room, common area and clinical support space.
“The household model allows our residents that live in small groups to engage and interact, and to have consistent staffing,” said Andrew H. Banoff, president and CEO of Jewish Senior Services. “They get to really know the people who are caring for them, and because of that our staff are better equipped to offer a level of personalized care you just don’t see in other nursing home models.”
Other amenities at the campus include a synagogue and kosher café, along with a fitness center.
