The fall detection system market is expected to grow 5.6% over the next five years, hitting $497.3 million by 2022, according to a new report

The demand is expected to reflect how fall detection technology can reduce expense, more demand for multimodal technology and an increased demand for smartphone-enabled and wearable technology, according to Research and Markets “Fall Detection System Market – Global Forecast to 2022.”

While the largest portion of the fall detection market was senior citizens living at home in 2016, the market for senior assisted living facilities, nursing homes and hospitals is expected to grow at a high rate over the next five years. Wearable systems are expected to hold the largest slice of the market over that period, the report says, which projects how they can be used in homes and in facilities.

Companies mentioned in the report include Intel Corporation, Mobilehelp, Tunstall Healthcare Group and Vital Connect.
