A recent study links daily aspirin use with lower overall cancer mortality. American Cancer Society researchers examined the association among more than 100,000 male and female subjects with no cancer history. Regardless of the duration of use, daily aspirin correlated with slightly lower cancer mortality, they found. “Even a relatively modest benefit with respect to overall cancer mortality could still meaningfully influence the balances of risks and benefits of prophylactic aspirin use,” said Eric J Jacobs, Ph.D., who helped conduct the study. Full findings appear in the Journal of the National Cancer Institute.
