New Jersey — The federal Occupational Health and Safety Administration has levied fines totaling $252,150 against 14 healthcare institutions in the state, including hospitals, nursing homes and an ambulance company.

The reason? Failing to provide enough personal protective equipment and other protections to healthcare workers who died from COVID-19, according to northjersey.com.

More facilities in New Jersey were cited in the OSHA violations disclosed in early October than in any other state. Failure to provide PPE, failure to fit workers properly with masks to prevent the virus from entering, and failure to train workers adequately in how to don and doff the PPE without contaminating themselves or other people were among the violations cited by OSHA at various facilities.
