Residents and staff at a Michigan long-term care facility will prove they are true romantics at heart — and not mere victims of royal wedding fever — when they celebrate the nuptials of Prince William and Kate Middleton on Friday. This is not just another case of fawning over royals.

Renaissance Gardens, an assisted living/skilled nursing facility in Novi, MI, is hosting a Royal Wedding Dinner Reception in honor of the couple, complete with live piano music, bubble blowing, non-alcoholic champagne pouring and a royal feast. Guests, comprising over 100 residents and staff members, will be served shrimp bisque soup, carrot raisin salad, prime rib, chicken a la Kate, duchess potato, green beans with garlic butter and a strawberry layer wedding cake. “Paparazzi” will be on hand to photograph all the guests, organizers say.

The evening provides residents and employees a chance to remember their own love stories, a Renaissance Gardens spokesman said. Guests will be encouraged to share details of their own romances, and reminisce about royal weddings of the past. And they will be doing so in style: Female staff members will be dressed in blue velvet prom dresses from the 1980s while male staff members will sport formal suits and bowties.
