Wanda Hose has served The Bay at Eastview Health and Rehabilitation Center community members of Antigo, WI, for more than 30 years. First, as a night shift RN. Then, as a staff educator and certified nursing assistant instructor. And, most recently, as administrator of the entire center, a position she has held since 1997.

Antigo, a town of 7,780 residents, is a place where “everyone knows each other,” Hose said. “I would not want to have another facility care for some of these folks — they’re family and friends,” she said.

Hose works tirelessly to ensure that her “family and friends” are well taken care of at Eastview. She does this by emphasizing two things: collaboration throughout the health care continuum and mentorship of people in the long-term care profession.

“I am happy to do anything that I can in the care continuum to make the flow of patient care more effective,” Hose said.

While working at Eastview, Hose also has held multiple other healthcare positions. She served for seven years on the Wisconsin Health Care Association/Wisconsin Center for Assisted Living board of directors while concurrently serving as the association’s District 7 president. She also was a member of the Marathon/Lincoln/Langlade Tri-County SNF Operations Committee.

Additionally, Hose is a former American Health Care Association / National Center for Assisted Living Silver National Quality Award examiner.

At Eastview, the sight of Hose family members has become commonplace. Hose’s daughter has worked at the facility as an activities aide and as director of nursing. In addition, her granddaughter works as an aide in the facility’s dietary department.

Hose also has trained generations of caregivers at Eastview, a source of great pride for her.

“I am proud of the fact that I still have CNAs in my building that I trained years ago,” she said. “I very much enjoy being an administrator. I enjoy being a teacher of staff.”
