Her biggest fans figure that Raeann Voorhies has the market cornered on how to be a great boss.
Employees at Vanda Health, of which she is the CEO, are encouraged to regularly proclaim great work they see from their colleagues. They routinely are entered into drawings to win things such as gift cards to coffee shops, healthcare-themed shoes, or even beach weekends. Voorhies also makes a point to recognize birthdays, work anniversaries and achievements such as passing a licensing exam or completing a certified nursing assistant program.
Voorhies established Voorhies and Associates Senior Living Management and Consulting in 2017 to bring her vision of community-based senior living and care into reality. Known as V and A, it was, at the time, a one-woman operation. By 2021, V and A officially became Vanda Health.
Voorhies and her team offer senior living consultation, operations support and management contracts, registered nurse/licensed practical nurse oversight and nursing coverage, interim executive director/administrator coverage, and sales and marketing coverage for senior living communities in Arizona, California, Idaho, Oregon and Washington.
A hallmark of a Vanda Health community is its holistic approach to care. The communities feature therapeutic horticulture, gardening and wellness programs, and four of six have community chickens on-site. Residents help gather eggs, plant seeds in the greenhouse, harvest fruits and vegetables, and do tai chi and yoga in the garden. Voorhies also is the CEO of Adara Oaks Manor, a residential care facility in Freshman, OR, and the co-owner of Elite Care, with residential care facilities in Tigard and Milwaukie, OR.
- Voorhies teaches nursing and administrator courses for the Oregon Health Care Association.
- She formerly held roles of regional direction of operations for Prestige Care and clinical operations specialist for the Avamere Family of Companies.
- She holds a Master of Science degree in nursing and nursing administration and an MSN/MBA in nursing education, nursing administration and business administration from the University of Phoenix.
