McKnight’s Long-Term Care News has been honored with seven top regional awards in the 2021 American Society of Business Publication Editors’ Azbee Awards. 

The total includes one Gold, five Silvers and one Bronze Award in the Upper Midwest Region.

“Such broad recognition, for virtually everyone taking part in the editorial process, is a great sign that McKnight’s readers truly are treated to the best timely coverage, day in and day out, both digitally and in print,” said McKnight’s Vice President and Editorial Director John O’Connor.

McKnight’s Home Care Daily Editor Liza Berger earned Gold in the Best Editorial category for her blogging efforts while in her previous role as senior editor of McKnight’s Long-Term Care News.

Silver Awards were granted for:

  • Best Print News Section
  • Best Online News Section (
  • Best Online Breaking News Coverage, for reporting on the Coronavirus Commission for Safety and Quality in Nursing Homes
  • Best Original Research, for the magazine’s unique “Mood of the Market” survey and story
  • Best Special Section, for the 2020 Dealmaker’s Handbook, in conjunction with McKnight’s Senior Living

The Bronze Award came in the Best Online Coverage (Single Topic) category, for reporting about nursing home visitation policies under COVID-19 conditions.

McKnight’s Long-Term Care News also has three finalists for ASBPE national awards: Best Editorial Writing, Best Online News Section and Best Online Breaking News Coverage. Winners at that level will be announced May 13. 

The 2021 class lifts McKnight’s Long-Term Care News’ ASBPE award totals to more than 50 at the regional level and 20 on the national stage.
