Leading provider and consumer organizations will call on Congress this afternoon to increase funding for affordable senior housing. Their plea comes in response to a White House’s budget plan that would reduce funding in this area by 25%.

The American Association of Homes and Services for the Aging and AARP will issue their statement during a press briefing today during the AAHSA conference in Washington D.C. Larry Minnix, president and CEO of AAHSA, and AARP’s John Rother will be on hand.

The Section 202 Supportive Housing for the Elderly program has allowed seniors to live in safe, decent and affordable apartments since 1959, according to both groups.
