Two nursing homes in Wisconsin and Rhode Island have taken top honors in a national quality awards competition.

Continental Manor in Abbotsford, WI, is owned by Golden Living, and Grand Islander Center in Middletown, RI, is owned by Genesis HealthCare. They earned Gold Awards in the American Health Care Association’s National Quality Award program, the association announced Thursday, joining only 11 other facilities that have earned the Gold designation since the program began in 1996.

AHCA’s National Quality Award program uses criteria dictated by the Baldrige Performance Excellence Program, which “has encouraged long term and post-acute care facilities to achieve performance excellence through continuous learning and development,” according to AHCA.

This year there were 404 Bronze awardees and 52 Silver winners. The awards will be presented at the AHCA/NCAL’s 63rd Annual Convention & Expo, October 7-10 in Tampa, Florida. Click here for a complete list of award winners.
