» Bertelsmann said in October it is buying Relias Learning from its current owners, Vista Equity Partners and LLR Partners. Relias headquarters will remain in Cary, NC, and company representatives said they expect to continue to add to their 300-employee base.

» UV Resources  has created a new ultraviolet infection control fixture that  delivers up to 350% more irradiance, or dosage, than conventional upper air UV systems. This should increase germicidal irradiation coverage.

» Florida-based Silversphere is accepting nominations for this year’s Emergency Call System Giveaway for a not-for-profit senior living community. The winner will get a free emergency call system. Cedar Lane Senior Living in Maryland received a system valued at $200,000 last year. The deadline to apply is Dec. 31, 2014.

» Mather LifeWays Institute on Aging has released Boost Your Brain & Memory program. The program uses videos and instructor-led exercises to guide participants, who learn strategies on remembering, being more organized and regulating emotions. The kit includes an instructor’s guide, CD and DVD. 

» PointClickCare has added Condition Evaluation to its eINTERACT certified tool. The tool evaluates resident condition and determines the best approach for managing and communicating changes, and is a first in the long-term care industry, the company said. The company also announced a partnership with COMS Interactive this fall, as well as integrated direct messaging. 

» MatrixCare announced it had transmitted more NCPDP compliant prescription messages than all other LTPAC EHR vendors combined. MatrixCare has live NCPDP-based integrations with pharmacies and pharmacy software systems servicing over 80% of the long-term care market, the company said.

» Gentell has bought H&H Products, a division of Tri-State Surgical Supplies. The H&H product line includes A, D & E ointment, shampoo, toothpaste, hand and body lotion and mouthwash.
