A 53-year-old man with type 2 diabetes presents to his internist with erectile dysfunction, increased appetite, and blurry vision. At his last visit 6 months ago, his LDL-C was borderline high.

Activity Objectives:
— Identify patients at risk for insulin resistance, diabetes, and dyslipidemia ,with a focus on early intervention to mitigate cardiovascular (CV) complications
— Explain the pathophysiologic interrelationship among CV disease, diabetes, and dyslipidemia and considerations for management
— Analyze the clinical and laboratory findings that may dictate a more aggressive approach to the management of patients with type 2 diabetes, dyslipidemia, and other related comorbidities
— Initiate, and modify, as necessary patient-specific therapeutic recommendations to achieve optimal glycemic and cholesterol levels
— Educate patients about the importance of medication adherence and lifestyle modification to maintain recommended treatment targets for dyslipidemia and diabetes
