The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services has posted a detailed MDS 3.0 Item Set Change History for its next version of the MDS, which is scheduled to go live Oct. 1, 2020.

The draft version of the itemized change list was released Thursday afternoon and corresponds to the draft version of the 2020 MDS item sets (v1.18.0) that was posted by CMS on Dec. 20, 2019. That pre-Christmas release was a surprise to many providers, many of whom learned for the first time as a result of it that Section G was being eliminated.

Page 21 of the 43-page change history explains that all Section G items have been retired from all assessments except the OSA.

The item set change history can be found here. Other MDS 3.0 technical information is located at this page.
