McKnight’s Long-Term Care News editors earned two regional Gold Awards, one Silver and a pair of Bronzes in the 2023 Azbee Awards of Excellence program.

The brand is also up for a national medal, which will be unveiled May 11 by program organizer the American Society of Business Publication Editors.

To date, McKnight’s Long-Term Care News has earned 26 national and 61 Upper Midwest Regional Azbee awards, the leader in its field

This year’s regional Golds were awarded in the Government Coverage and Original Research categories. Senior Editor Kim Marselas had a hand in both. She reported in depth on survey results for McKnight’s “Mood of the Market” package, which delved into attitudes of skilled nursing administrative and nursing leaders. Coverage was featured both in print and in expanded online installments. The unique reporting is also a finalist for a national award.

In addition, Marselas received a regional Bronze Award for weekly columns, which can be found here. She also shared in a Bronze in the Best Online Breaking News Coverage category with former staff writer Danielle Brown and Executive Editor James M. Berklan. Those two also were partners in the Government Coverage Gold Award entry, which included in-depth reporting on issues pertaining to the Executive, Legislative and Judicial branches of the federal government.

Brown additionally was rewarded with a Silver Award in the News Analysis category for her coverage of the Biden administration’s reform plans that were announced with a “wallop” the day before his first State of the Union Address.

Altogether, McKnight’s brands earned 11 regional Azbees in the 2023 program. They included pairs of Golds and Silvers for McKnight’s Home Care and a Gold and Bronze for McKnight’s Senior Living.  Additionally, the brands are up for four national honors at next month’s awards ceremony. The Upper Midwest region covers journalists in Illinois, Iowa, Minnesota and Wisconsin.
