Information on how to create institutionalized special needs plans and other strategies to deal better with Medicare Advantage plans will be featured at a new long-term care provider conference slated for Dec. 9 and 10 in Washington.

The American Health Care Association and the National Center for Assisted Living are hosting the Population Health Management Summit for Long-Term and Post-Acute Care Leaders at the InterContinental Washington, D.C. – The Wharf.

The number of I-SNPs in existence has exploded over the last few years, and the associations are encouraging more of them in the future.

The goal of the conference is to educate and show how post-acute providers can take the lead. Earlier this year, AHCA created the Population Health Management Council. Now, a broader informational push is on.

Avalere Health founder Dan Mendelson will be the conference’s keynote speaker. Breakout sessions will take a look at improving network relationships, primers on how to start an I-SNP and updates from federal regulators.

“That is a fundamental technical session that would appeal to folks just getting in and those already into it,” said Jill Sumner, AHCA’s vice president of population health management.
