Health officials in Oregon’s Clackamas County tested residents at a senior living facility for norovirus after six residents were hospitalized last weekend with symptoms of diarrhea and vomiting, according to news reports.
A total of 28 residents and eight staff members have fallen ill at The Wilsonville Senior Living Facility, The Oregonian newspaper reported. Officials won’t know until today at the earliest whether the residents have norovirus, whose symptoms include vomiting, diarrhea and stomach cramping. No deaths from the outbreak have been reported.
The virus killed three residents and sickened 75 residents and staff members of the Cascade Retirement Inn in Vancouver in April. The Wilsonville facility, which includes independent living, assisted living and skilled nursing, closed its communal dining room when the first cases were reported Monday.
