The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid will hold a listening session to discuss the proposed Medicare Diabetes Prevention Program Expanded Model on Wednesday, Aug. 16, from 1:30 to 3 p.m. EDT.

The intervention program promotes structured behavior change in order to prevent the onset of type 2 diabetes. CMS has proposed implementing the MDPP in 2018 as part of the 2018 Medicare Physician Fee Schedule proposed rule. The program is targeted to Medicare beneficiaries who have been diagnosed with prediabetes.

CMS experts will give listeners a high-level overview of the proposed policies. It recommends participants review the proposed rule before the call.

Comments on the call will not be considered formal comments. The comment period closes on Sept. 11, 2017.
