Providers can now download thousands of mobile health applications. These apps allow users to examine issues ranging from glucose levels to resident movement. But it’s not always easy to tell which apps truly deliver as promised. Enter new House legislation that hopes to remove some of the uncertainty. Specifically, the Healthcare Innovation and Marketplace Technologies Act would establish a special Office of Mobile Health within the Food and Drug Administration. The office would provide recommendations as they affect mobile health app issues. Rep. Mike Honda (D-CA) is the measure’s sponsor.
