The Food & Drug Administration has approved Smith & Nephew’s PICO wound care system, the company announced. The pocket-sized Negative Pressure Wound Therapy (NPWT) system is indicated for pressure and diabetic ulcers, as well as other uses. “This (system) saves the healthcare system money and improves patients’ quality of life,” said Dr. Raymond Dunn, Chairman of Plastic Surgery at the University of Massachusetts.
