Reauthorizing the Older Americans Act emerged as the most important policy decision from the White House Conference on Aging, according to the 2005 report, which was released Monday.

Delegates to the December conference also voted for the development of a comprehensive and coordinated strategy for affordable and accessible long-term care, including caregiver support. They also expressed their belief in the importance of mobility and transportation options for older Americans.

The report, “The Booming Dynamics of Aging: From Awareness to Action,” discussed the importance of planning for the impact of the aging baby boomers on healthcare and public, social and economic policy.
