With most policy makers and planners taking a pause during Thanksgiving week, all eyes are looking ahead to Tuesday, when the Senate will kick off what could be several weeks of contentious debate over its reform bill.

The “Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act” (H.R. 3590) is important to long-term care providers on many fronts, not the least of which is its inclusion of the CLASS Act, which would provide for a first-ever government-run LTC insurance benefit. Democrats have shown splintered signs of support for the bill, while Republicans have demonstrated a united front against it.
