Deadline for mental health plan comments midnight Monday
Advocates for better mental health services for adults will be pressing until at least midnight Monday to have comments submitted to include seniors in a new federal behavioral health plan.
Long-term care psychologists, among others, have expressed outrage over the apparent omission of seniors services in a proposal from the federal Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA).
The Department of Health and Human Services agency has requested comments on its 2015-18 proposed strategic plan, “Leading Change 2.0: Advancing the Behavioral Health of the Nation.” The three-week comment period ends at midnight Monday (Eastern Time).
Comments and suggestions can be left online — and the 34-page proposal may be downloaded — here.
