Administrators in long-term care can enjoy “their” week soon. Sunday starts a weeklong celebration honoring LTC building leaders who oversee both the delivery of care and the pursuit of a supportive work environment, while also being good stewards of the bottom line. Facilities and staffs are encouraged to hold special events and push broad recognition for administrators.

Suggestion from the event sponsor, the American College of Health Care Administrators, include:

• For individuals: Flowers, candy, lunch or dinner out, gift certificates (i.e. spa/salon, massage therapist, etc.) or tickets to a favored area event could be good.

For facility recognition: A special meal, social or theme day at the center hosted by someone other than the administrator. Special activities could be celebrated with residents, family, volunteers and staff.

ACHCA also suggests sending press releases to local news organizations, and posting events to the ACHCA Facebook page. Providers are requested to follow ACHCA on Twitter and use the official hashtag #LTCAWeek15 to tweet about your ”special moments.”
